COVID-19 Health Tips

All of our lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a serious issue and we all need to do our part as a global community to prevent it’s spread and subsequent effects.

Depending on your unique situation, you may be feeling a little bit - or a lot - stuck, helpless, lonely, or … really anything. The list of emotions really is limitless at times like this.  There’s an endless array of options to occupy your time, but what can you do to safeguard your health and immune system?

Here are the personal actions that our team is taking:

Because the coronavirus is being understood to start in the throat, we’re gargling with salt water and drinking warm or hot lemon water multiple times a day and taking a liquid probiotic. (A liquid probiotic, such as Bio-K, allows probiotics to act along the entire length of your digestive tract so you’ll have a strong army of good bacteria in your mouth and throat as a defense against the virus and other bacteria that weaken your immunity.)

Washing our hands very regularly for 20 seconds with soap.

Washing surfaces thoroughly and regularly. Tabletops, door handles, handrails, your car, hand towels, all of it. The virus is reported to stay alive for 9 days on surfaces and some health care professionals have cautioned that it may adhere to clothing and fabrics.

Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, emphasizing vegetables, and lean protein. We’re avoiding acidic foods, such as some meats, dairy, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine. We’re even limiting high fructose fruits at this time.

Taking immune-supporting supplements including Vitamin D and C, omega 3s, chaga mushroom, and lots of calming teas which blends that include skullcap, valerian, nettles, lavender, chamomile, and hibiscus (high in Vitamin C).

Self-isolating, spending lots of time in the sun and outdoors, and observing social distancing of at least 2 meters. We’ve had the most challenging time with this at the grocery stores. As a result, we’re choosing to go at slower times of the day, often in the evening after dinner hours as the early mornings are being prioritized for the elderly.

Ordering in. This has mostly been groceries. Many stores have waived the delivery fees to protect their staff from the public coming into the stores. We’re also offering our products in bulk with free local delivery. Check the treats out here!

Supplying, but not hoarding. There is no global shortage of anything because of COVID-19 - other than hand sanitizer. We’ve all been doing slightly bigger shops - but not buying outside of our needs - in order to reduce our exposure to the public. (We’ve got pantries and freezers that need to be cleaned out!)

Practicing ethical social responsibility. We believe this is a time that we can offer services to make everyone feel less stressed and less restricted. We’re offering free local delivery of our products in bulk at reduced prices. We want you to have healthy, organic treats and snacks on hand in your home while your favourite cafe is closed :( Shop here.

Exercising regularly, reducing stress and anxiety, and getting lots of sleep!

We hope that all of you and your families are safe and healthy! This will pass.
